Mr. Barnes

We have been busy packing+shipping out orders for the shop and tonight we finally have a chance to wrap our own presents. Unfortunately we can't put the presents under our christmas tree, because Barney our bunny (or Mr. Barnes as we like to call him) loves like crazytown chewing and nibbling up the wrapping paper and boxes, plus under the tree is his spot.
Tonight I also baked some presents for friends and neighbors. Some banana bread, pumpkin bread and also Mandel Bread with chocolate chips, which I discovered from Stu's aunt and it is my favorite. It smells like cinnamon and chocolate in our house tonight. Love it.

A tree on our roof.

Hello, there.
Hope our weekend was a good one. This weekend we got our tree and hung our stockings up. It was the first year Holly really got into decorating our tree with me and was as excited as I was about hanging each of our ornaments. She's already on winter break from preschool so I think were going to make some ornaments together this week for the tree.

silos + factories

We think old factories, abandoned warehouses, woodworking shops, barns and silos are fascinating places to explore. Everything is so perfectly worn, having spent many years being used by those who work hard - making a living by working with their hands. A lot of our very favorite pieces of furniture in our own home, we have found in abandoned places like these, like our blue school desk found in a warehouse, our tanker industrial steel desk found outside a police station, our metal card catalog from an old factory, and our orange set of lockers from an abandoned woodshop. Things seem to have more meaning when they have an interesting backstory to tell.
The folks at american furnishings have also visited many of these long forgotten places in middle america and rescued some amazing pieces, re-purposed for useful everyday items and now available in their shop.

Punch in...Punch out

Just wanted to mention these industrial time-card racks were just put up in the shop. They're awesome and look great up on a wall.
