new collection

"they're more like sacks". that's what janet said when i asked her how to describe my new collection. i'm not crazy about calling it "my sack collection", but either way it's off to a stellar start. first up is a rice sack that you can buy pretty easily at any import food market. this one came from a small India-n grocery shop that also doubled as a Bollywood video rental store. the dancing on the video that was on in the shop entranced us and i think we ended up buying way too many samosas. So what's so great about this sack? numbers (collegiate type nonetheless), elephants, blue/red combo on burlap, hand-stitched red seams + sewn-in handles and zipper (zipper is red). ok, so we've been eating much more basmati rice than ever before (we're a jasmine rice family), but it's worth it and i might even go back and get the larger size.

next up is a vintage NYC Transit subway booth fare/token collection sack. it's so simple and i really love that it's NYC Transit and how it makes me remember the city and taking the trains. metrocards and credit cards have made these obsolete, which makes them all the better.

oh yes, and lots of new items have just been added to the shop. but no sacks.
